Currently restricted
The UAE has tightened tourist visa conditions for Nigerian citizens since mid-2025, including a transit visa suspension and new age and financial requirements.
Since mid-2025, the UAE has progressively restricted tourist visa access for Nigerian citizens: transit visas are no longer processed, solo travellers aged 18–45 are generally ineligible for a tourist visa without a sponsor or accompanying family member, and applicants are commonly required to show six months of bank statements with a minimum monthly closing balance (widely reported around USD 10,000 for an individual). Because these rules have been communicated to travel agents rather than published as a single consolidated government policy, and because a widely-circulated 'document verification fee' has been publicly denied by UAE authorities as unofficial, Tripmate strongly recommends confirming your specific eligibility with an authorised UAE visa channel before paying for anything.
Commonly reported at AED 200–300 (~₦60,000–₦110,000) for a standard tourist visa, though a widely-reported separate document verification fee (~₦640,000) has been publicly disputed by UAE authorities as not an official government requirement — see notice below.
Historically 3–5 working days for standard processing, though current restrictions have introduced additional review and delays for many applicants.
Typically 30 or 90 days depending on visa type, when a visa is granted.
Who needs this
All Nigerian citizens need a pre-approved visa for the UAE — it is not available on arrival. Since mid-2025, eligibility itself has narrowed significantly for Nigerian applicants (see notice below).

This guide reflects a series of tourist-visa restrictions on Nigerian citizens reported consistently by Nigerian and international travel-industry outlets from mid-2025 through late 2025 (transit visa suspension, 18–45 sponsor requirement, bank balance minimums). These have been communicated to travel agents rather than published in one official UAE government notice, and a separately-reported document verification fee has been publicly denied by UAE authorities as not an official requirement — always verify current conditions directly before paying anything. Visa rules change quickly — always confirm current fees and documents on the official link above before applying or paying anything.
